Historic Preservation Specialist

The Tradesmen Group LLC (TTG) , based in Plain City, Ohio , is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Conservator to join our growing team of historic restoration professionals. This is a full-time position ideal for someone passionate about preserving architectural and artistic heritage. The role involves frequent travel to project sites across the eastern United States.

We self-perform a wide range of trades including masonry restoration, roofing, architectural metals, carpentry, and painting. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct field assessments of historic materials and structures
• Document deterioration and conditions using written, photographic, and digital formats
• Develop and implement conservation treatment plans
• Prepare detailed condition and treatment reports
• Organize resources, staff, and tools to execute conservation scopes of work
• Lead hands-on conservation efforts in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
• Collaborate with project managers, site teams, clients, and vendors
• Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings (virtual and in-person)
• Assist in developing schedules, submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to conservation work

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Conservation , or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in materials conservation
• Professional designation with the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) or eligibility to apply within the first year
• Comfortable working at heights on scaffolding or aerial lifts
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
